Harvest Moon®: Echoes of Teradea Quarrytop Chapter 1: route and preparation
Last updated 2026-10-18. Checked against the sources below.
To enter Quarrytop Mine, complete Lorelei’s ingredient request for permission to reach floor 10, then rent a Mine Bag at reception. Reaching town or upgrading tools alone does not grant entry. The complete Chapter 1 storyline and ending remain unverified.
Reach the town
- From Bloomfield’s west bridge, take the first path north, past the traveler’s camp and Brown Bear’s Territory.
- Continue through Quarrytop Campground and Glacier Grand Canyon. Follow the unlit torches along the gray path.
- A jumping mount is required at the chasm. A Silver Dapple Horse near the Trailhead has Bunny Jump; leave barn space if you plan to tame it.
- Reindeer help on ice, but still need a jump skill for the gap. Hot Mushroom offers about 30 minutes of cold protection in the guide’s terms.

Get Lorelei’s mine permit, then rent a bag
- Speak to Lorelei and accept her ingredient-delivery request. The Harvest Moon Wiki mining guide lists 3 Apples, 6 Wheat and Rye; it does not give a verified Rye quantity, so check that requirement in your active quest before gathering.
- Deliver the requested ingredients to Lorelei. The guide’s accompanying game-dialogue screenshot shows her granting permission to go down to the 10th floor.
- Next speak to Mine Reception and rent a Mine Bag. Permission and bag rental are separate steps; waiting at the elevator does not replace either one.
This establishes the initial entry sequence, not the complete Chapter 1 material list. No Rye quantity, ingredient quality requirement or later story delivery is inferred from the permit screenshot.
Craft the Expert tools before Maplehill
Use the Craft menu at Glenn’s Crafting Shop for the Axe, or at Glenn’s or the Mine Reception for the Pickaxe. Neoseeker lists no story requirement for the Expert tier: do not confuse these upgrades with Master tools, which require Quarrytop Chapter 1. Carry the old tool and materials; the guide says crafting can use your bag and Animal Bag, not house Storage.
| Upgrade | Crafting fee | Items to bring |
|---|---|---|
| Expert Axe | 1,500G | Old Axe + 3 Bronze + 4 Square Lumber |
| Expert Pickaxe | 2,000G | Old Pickaxe + 3 Bronze + 4 Square Lumber |
| Bronze refining | 10G per Bronze | 2 Bronze Ore → 1 Bronze |
| Square Lumber refining | 1G per Square Lumber | 1 Lumber → 1 Square Lumber |
Both tools together require 3,500G in upgrade fees, 6 Bronze and 8 Square Lumber. If you refine those materials from 12 Bronze Ore and 8 Lumber, add 68G: 3,568G total, excluding any purchased raw materials.
Mine bags and Lantern Oil
| Preparation | Cost or recipe | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Small / Regular / Large Mine Bag | 300G / 900G / 2,000G at Mine Reception | Running out of stamina or falling asleep in the mine forfeits the rented bag and its contents |
| Lantern Oil at Glenn’s | 1 Pine Sap + 1G → Lantern Oil | Heather sells Pine Sap for 50G, making this 51G if you buy the sap |
| Lantern Oil at Mine Reception | 100G | A direct purchase, not the cheaper refining route |
| Pumpkin Seeds at Heather’s | 55G after Quarrytop Chapter 1 | Video Chums also reports seeds as possible villager-request rewards |
These are listed regular prices. Lantern Oil preparation is not evidence for the exact quest that gives the first lantern.
Mine-floor access and later unlocks
| Floors or tool tier | Requirement reported by Neoseeker |
|---|---|
| Mine floors 1–10 | Complete Lorelei’s ingredient request for the initial permit, then rent a Mine Bag at reception |
| Mine floors 11–30 | Complete Quarrytop Chapter 1, then deliver ore for Travis at Mine Reception; exact delivery quantities not verified here |
| Mine floors 31–50 | Complete Quarrytop Chapter 2, then finish Travis’s second request; exact delivery quantities not verified here |
| Master Axe / Master Pickaxe | Quarrytop Chapter 1; each uses its Expert tool, 4 Silver and 4 Palm Square Lumber, plus 4,500G / 5,000G respectively |
| Mine floors 51–100 | The guide attributes these to Gorgan’s Family Dispute DLC and a pass mailed after its story; not a base-game Chapter 1 requirement |
An unlock table is not a walkthrough of either chapter. The full mine objectives, puzzles and completion sequence remain unverified.
If the first chapter does not trigger
In an October 18 Reddit reply, a player who had reached Quarrytop reported fixing a missing chapter trigger by selecting the quest as the main objective and retracing the route to its starting location. This is one player’s troubleshooting report, not a verified NPC location or universal fix.
Source checks
Checked on 18 October 2026: fogu supplies the approach; earlier readable Neoseeker shop and tool pages supply costs. The newly read Harvest Moon Wiki mining guide describes Lorelei’s entry request, and its game-dialogue screenshot confirms permission down to floor 10. The request’s Rye quantity and the full chapter ending are not verified.
Questions this page answers
Can I cross the Quarrytop gap on foot?
The route guide requires a mount with a jump ability, including when returning south from the Mount Quarrytop warp statue.
Do Expert Axe and Expert Pickaxe require Quarrytop Chapter 1?
Neoseeker lists no story requirement for Expert upgrades. The Master versions require Quarrytop Chapter 1; each Expert upgrade still needs the old tool and its crafting materials.
Why can I not enter the mine after arriving in Quarrytop?
The mining guide separates Lorelei’s ingredient-delivery permit from the Mine Bag rental at reception. Complete the request, obtain permission down to floor 10, then rent a bag. The request’s Rye quantity must still be checked in your quest list.
Where are the full Quarrytop mine steps?
The complete quest and puzzle sequence was not verified in the sources checked on 18 October 2026. The tool, shop and floor-unlock tables do not replace that missing walkthrough.
